Catalina (AVX) is a fun destination for anyone in the LA basin. It's an easy flight, but an interesting landing. The runway is right on top of the mountain that forms the island, and thers'a a crown in the middle that makes it appear shorter than it is. A lot of fun.

Beyond that it's a beautiful island full of interesting and beautiful things to see. This trip wasn't really to see much of the island, just to grab lunch at the airport, take in the view and take a couple pictures. We got to see some buffalo near the windsock, some views of the island, and my all time favorite fishing picture.
